School Meals

We believe that Lunchtime should be the highlight of the day for everyone at Suffolks Primary School.

We want to help children gain a real appreciation for good quality food, where it comes from, how it’s produced and why healthy food is important.

School meals are provided by Cambridge-based specialist schools caterer; The Lunchtime Company They provide delicious, nutritious and healthy meals every day.

Together we offer children a wonderful choice of hot food, fresh vegetables, freshly baked bread, fresh fruit, yogurt, jacket potatoes… there really is something for everyone.

All meals are cooked from fresh ingredients every day, sourced locally (where possible within a 60 mile radius of the school), and prepared on-site.

Over the course of the academic year we provide an array of theme days, activities, cookery classes and charity events – these are advertised around the school and on the website.

We would really love to invite parents, grandparents and carers to come and dine with your children and experience first-hand the amazing food. Just let us know when you would like to come in. We look forward to sharing with you.‚Äč

The current cost for a school meal is £2.50 per day. A menu is attached for you to view the selection that is on offer.

If your child is registered for school dinners / school packed lunch and wishes to change to a home packed lunch please complete the form attached. Meal patterns can only be changed at the start of each half term.

We run a cashless system for our school dinners, parents sign in to ParentPay, to top up their accounts and the price of the meal is automatically deducted. If you need your ParentPay details please call into the school office.

We would advise you that the school operates a NO DEBT POLICY meals must be paid for in advance.

Free School Meals

We would encourage any parent who believes they may be entitled to claim free school meals for their child to do so. As well as ensuring that their child receives a hot meal, there are also a number of benefits for the school in relation to the number of pupils receiving free meals. Additional funding can often be obtained which can be for the benefit of all our young people and so we strongly urge any parent who is entitled but not currently claiming, to contact the school.

All contacts will be treated in strict confidence and the school can even provide support for parents in completing the relevant documentation.

You are entitled to free school meals where parents are receiving one of the following:

  • Income support
  • Income -based Job Seeker's Allowance
  • Employment and Support Allowance (IR)
  • Supported under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Child Tax Credit, provided that your annual income is less than £16,190
  • The guarantee element of State Pension Credit

Unfortunately, those receiving Working Tax Credit cannot apply. If you would like to apply for free school meals, please print off the application form below and return it to the School Office.
