School Meals

We believe that lunchtime should be the highlight of the day for everyone at Suffolks Primary School.

We want to help children gain a real appreciation for good quality food, where it comes from, how it’s produced and why healthy food is important.

School meals are provided by Hertfordshire-based schools caterer; HCL www.hcl.co.uk.  They are passionate about providing fresh, local and seasonal food to schools; improving the school meals service and making lunchtime an integral part of the whole school experience. They endeavour to provide dishes that are not only popular with students but will also comply with healthy eating standards and guidelines and encourage an inviting dining experience, whilst making food fun.

Together we offer children a wonderful choice of hot food, fresh vegetables, freshly baked bread, fresh fruit, jacket potatoes… there really is something for everyone.

All meals are cooked from fresh ingredients every day, sourced locally (where possible within a 60 mile radius of the school), and prepared on-site.

If you child has food allergy you can apply for a tailored menu, please see information on Lunch Menu sheet below.

Over the course of the academic year we provide an array of theme days, activities, cookery classes and charity events – these are advertised around the school and on the website.

We would really love to invite parents, grandparents and carers to come and dine with your children and experience first-hand the amazing food. Just let us know when you would like to come in. We look forward to sharing with you.

The current cost for a school meal is £2.50 per day. A menu is attached for you to view the selection that is on offer.

We run a cashless system for our school dinners, parents sign in to ParentPay, to top up their accounts and the price of the meal is automatically deducted. If you need your ParentPay details please call into the school office.

We would advise you that the school operates a NO DEBT POLICY meals must be paid for in advance.

A copy of this policy can be found below.
