Resource Base

The Resource Base is a Part-Time facility for both KS1 & KS2 pupils and the children attend for two sessions each week. We follow the National curriculum, through a topic based approach and concentrate on Literacy and Numeracy with particular emphasis on developing skills for speech and language (e.g. attention and listening and phonological awareness). The children in each group are supported by the class teacher, teaching assistant and a Speech & language therapist. Each child has an individual education plan (IEP) tailored to meet their specific speech and language needs.

The placement can last between 2 and 6 terms and is subject to a two term assessment period and review meeting. A further review is held during the fifth term to discuss how the child's future needs can be best met. The class teachers work closely with the students mainstream school, observing them in class, providing advice and feedback to staff and training or small group work. There are also regular open afternoons for parents to visit the Resource Base and meet the staff and other parents and look at the children's work. We also provide termly newsletters to keep you informed.
