Foundation Stage Learning

In our Early Years Foundation Stage we aim to support and develop the children's learning through a happy, safe and exciting envionment. We provide a curriculum which promotes equal learning and development opportunities for all children and believe that children learn best when their emotional, physical and social needs are being met.

The Foundation Stage curriculum is based on seven areas of learning consisting of Personal, Emotional and Social Development, Communication and Language, Physical Development, Mathematics, Literacy, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

All children learn through these seven areas based on their interests and needs. We aim to provide quality experiences for all the children, through a mixture of child-initiated and teacher-led learning both indoors and in our amazing outdoor learning environment. Children are observed continually, in order to assess their stage of development and to plan their next steps of learning

We also strongly believe that parents and carers make a valuable contribution to the learning of their child. From the beginning of their child's journey at Suffolks we arrange home visits, play and stay sessions, classroom drop-ins, parent workshops and opportunities to contribute to the planning of their child's learning. We aim to foster effective partnerships with parents that will last throughout their child's time at Suffolks.
