Royal Gunpowder Mills

On Friday Buttercup class went to the Royal Gunpowder Mills in Waltham Abbey.  While we were there we took part in a mini beast hunt.  We found lots of Wood lice, Ear wigs, Spiders, Snails and PJ even found a Newt!  He was very excited.  We also went on an animal hunt in the woods.  We saw all sorts of birds like Magpies and Pheasants.  We even managed to spy a deer in the deep woodlands.  The children thoroughly enjoyed their tractor ride through the woodland, where at the end of it we got to do some pond dipping.  Once we caught all the things in the pond we took them back to the classroom to look at them more closely.  All the children of Buttercup class were incredibly well behaved and all showed how grown up they can be, even when trudging through a rain storm!
