'Stories from Around the World'

Autumn 2015's topic is 'Stories from Around the World'. We are focusing on stories from Africa.

In literacy, we are looking at the African tales of Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters and Anansi. We are really enjoying these stories and are doing lots of work around them. We like to practice retelling the events using colourful semantics and often share our own thoughts and opinions about them.

We have also been looking at Africa in geography and science. We learned that Africa is a continent and we are learning the names of its different countries. We have also looked at compass directions and the different habitats. We also now know what it means to be a carnivore, herbivore or an omnivore and we sorted African animals into a Venn diagram.

The children have really enjoyed this topic and have created lots of fantastic work!
